What you will need:

Paint in a mat finish

Paint in a semi-gloss finish

Painters tape

Roller

Paint brush

What to do

Prep the room first by putting down mats and taping off ceiling and base moulding.

Paint the room in the mat finish first and then wait until completely dry.

Measure the width of the stripes around the room. Start the measurement working from a corner in the room. With a pencil lightly mark the vertical lines. The width of the stripes looks better if one is larger than the other. Tape off the lines creating the stripes.

Paint in-between the tape lines with the semi-gloss finished paint.

When completely dry, remove the tape.

The project is done.

The polka-dot paint idea is wonderful for a child's room or even a play room. This interior design idea is slightly different from the traditional polka dots, these polka-dots are done with large, medium and small round circles scattered around the room. These circles can be painted in different colors or just one color.

One color in a mat finish

One or several colors in a semi-gloss finish

Polka-dot templates

What to do:

Prep the room first taping off ceilings and base boards and laying down mats.

Paint the room in the mat finish paint and wait for it to dry completely

Take the polka-dot templates and trace lightly with a pencil around the room.

The inside of the polka-dot can be painted with a steady hand or cut the stencils from the inside and tape to the wall and then paint the inside of the templates. Use the semi-gloss paint for the polka-dots this will give it more dimension.
